What I Learned at My First Title Conference

April 29, 2026By Amit Mittelman

I'm writing this on a flight back from Austin, and I'll be honest — I wasn't sure what to expect walking into my first title conference.

Title insurance doesn't exactly have a reputation for wild, energetic gatherings. I half-expected a room full of stiff suits, rehearsed talking points, and the kind of corporate-speak that makes your eyes glaze over by 10am. What I found was the complete opposite.

The atmosphere was genuinely warm. Smiles everywhere. People who actually care about the work they do and the clients they serve. That alone was worth the trip.

Now, I'll be transparent about something: I'm not great at sitting still through lectures. My attention span has a short fuse. So while the sessions were solid, the real value for me happened after hours — at the bar, over drinks, in those unscheduled, unscripted conversations that go deep fast.

And deep they went.

The conversations I kept finding myself in weren't just about technology or automation in the abstract. They were about rethinking the title workflow from the ground up. What does an AI-first title company actually look like? Not one that bolts AI onto existing processes as a party trick, but one that's built around it — where the technology genuinely makes the experience better for everyone involved: the agents, the lenders, the attorneys, and most importantly, the people buying and selling their homes.

There's something exciting happening in this industry right now. A lot of people I spoke with are asking the same questions we've been asking at Aureo Title. How do we reduce friction without sacrificing accuracy? How do we move faster without cutting corners on the due diligence that actually protects people? How do we use technology to serve clients better, not just to cut costs?

These aren't easy questions. But the fact that so many people in one room were wrestling with them seriously — and thoughtfully — left me feeling genuinely optimistic about where things are heading.

I came back with a notebook full of ideas, a few new connections I'm genuinely excited to stay in touch with, and a lot of energy for what we're building at Aureo Title.

Austin delivered. And so did this industry.
